Community Rallies Around Chad Lowe's Family After Daughter's Death
Los Angeles residents offer support to the actor's family following the suicide of 13-year-old Fiona Lowe.
The Los Angeles community is extending support to actor Chad Lowe and his family after the death of his 13-year-old daughter, Fiona Lowe, who died by suicide on September 29. Several families from Fiona’s school have reached out, offering assistance through meal trains and GoFundMe accounts, according to a source. However, the family has politely declined these offers, stating they are sharing information only within their small, private circle.
The Los Angeles Medical Examiner confirmed that Fiona died in a local hospital by suicide. A statement released by the family to Page Six expressed their devastation, saying, "Her passing is devastating for our entire family and we ask for prayers and privacy at this time."
Fiona’s middle school principal sent an email to parents acknowledging the difficult week the community had experienced. The principal noted that students, staff, and families might be processing a range of emotions and that counseling and wellness supports remain available on campus for those who need someone to talk with or require extra support. The email concluded by emphasizing the community's commitment to taking care of one another as they move forward.
This is not the first hardship the Lowe family has faced in recent years. In January 2025, their home was destroyed in the Pacific Palisades fire. At the time, Chad Lowe shared on social media that the loss was heartbreaking but that the family was safe and comforted by the well wishes and offers of assistance they received. He noted, "We have each other."
Chad Lowe, known for his roles in "Pretty Little Liars" and "Melrose Place," is the younger brother of actor Rob Lowe. He also works on the ABC show "9-1-1: Nashville."
