Cambridge Sustainable Food, a community group, is collecting unpicked blackberries to create recipe boxes for low-income households in the city. The initiative aims to prevent food waste and provide free meals to families in need.
The project plans to distribute approximately 50 recipe boxes, which will include recipe cards and pre-measured ingredients. These boxes will be distributed through the Cambridge Food Hub.
Alex Vardill, a representative from Cambridge Sustainable Food, stated that the organization did not want the abundant blackberry harvest to go to waste. The effort is focused on ensuring that surplus fruit benefits the community directly.
