Jon-Paul Hynd, a technical official appointed to the Commonwealth Games in February, has been suspended by Boxing Scotland as the organization investigates a series of allegations concerning his behavior. The complaints, which were initially reported to Boxing Scotland in April, detail several incidents of alleged misconduct.
One complaint suggests that Hynd struck a child, described as being around eight or nine years old, on the head with an item during a "cubs" class at a boxing club. Another coach reportedly witnessed this incident and subsequently left the club for a period. Separately, another boxer is said to have sustained a hand injury and felt compelled to perform exercises deemed unsuitable. This boxer reportedly left the gym shortly thereafter, citing feelings of being bullied.
Further allegations state that Hynd repeatedly ridiculed a child who had recently lost weight. Boxing Scotland has stated it is unable to comment on specific allegations. A spokesperson for the Commonwealth Games indicated that the appointment of officials falls under the purview of Boxing Scotland. Hynd has been instructed to refrain from attending the club and participating in related activities while the investigation is ongoing.
