Commanders and Colts Set for High-Scoring London Showdown

The NFL's first London game of the season is poised for an offensive spectacle, as the Washington Commanders and Indianapolis Colts head across the Atlantic with defenses that have struggled to contain opponents. Both teams are surrendering an average of more than 30 points per game through the first three weeks of the season.

Washington's secondary has been particularly vulnerable, allowing 280.3 passing yards per contest and an NFL-worst 124.4 opponent passer rating. This weakness was exploited last weekend when Sam Darnold passed for 379 yards and four touchdowns against them. Despite starting quarterback Jayden Daniels being sidelined with an elbow injury, Marcus Mariota demonstrated the Commanders' offensive potential by throwing three touchdowns in their 33-31 upset victory over the Seattle Seahawks.

The Colts' defense has also faced challenges, conceding 41 points to the Baltimore Ravens and 33 to the Kansas City Chiefs before their recent game against the Houston Texans. Indianapolis, however, has shown offensive promise, scoring 23 and 30 points against Baltimore and Kansas City respectively, before being held by Houston's top-ranked defense from the previous year. Daniel Jones leads the Colts' offensive efforts.

While London games can sometimes result in low-scoring affairs, history suggests offensive fireworks are possible. In 2024, the Chicago Bears and Jacksonville Jaguars combined for 51 points, followed by a 48-point game between Jacksonville and the New England Patriots a week later. Last season, the Los Angeles Rams scored 35 points against the Jaguars in London.

Given the offensive capabilities on both sides and the defensive struggles exhibited thus far, the matchup between the Commanders and Colts is anticipated to be a high-scoring contest. The projected total points for the game is over 47.5.
