Comedian Paul Whitehouse Fights Off Mugger in London

Actor and comedian Paul Whitehouse resisted an attempted mugging at a London cash machine on Friday, according to his wife, Dr. Mine Conkbayir. The incident occurred as Whitehouse was collecting medication for his wife, who had experienced a adverse reaction to a treatment.

Conkbayir shared the details on Instagram, stating that her husband was mugged at a cashpoint behind a Sainsbury's store in Islington. She reported that Whitehouse fought back and recovered his card, with the assailant fleeing empty-handed. She urged the public to be "super vigilant."

Whitehouse, 68, is widely recognized for his work on television shows such as "The Fast Show" and the BBC's "Gone Fishing." In the latter, he co-hosts with fellow comedian Bob Mortimer, and the series has received multiple Bafta TV award nominations. He has also been cast as Argus Filch, the caretaker, in HBO's forthcoming Harry Potter television series.

Friends and fans expressed condemnation of the attack and sent well wishes to Whitehouse. Comedian Dawn French commented that the incident was "utterly not okay," while Angela Barnes described it as a "horrible thing to happen."
