During his appearance on "Jimmy Kimmel Live" on Tuesday, guest host Ike Barinholtz drew a parallel between President Donald Trump's foreign policy and his past associations with Jeffrey Epstein. Barinholtz speculated that Trump's renewed hostilities with Iran, which began in February and have seen a recent ceasefire end, might be linked to the ongoing release of documents connected to the late sex offender.
Barinholtz questioned the rationale behind Trump initiating the conflict with Iran, describing it as a war that was predicted to be short-lived but has now resumed. He then suggested that Trump's focus on the conflict could be a distraction from his documented relationship with Epstein, who died in prison in 2019.
Trump, who was once a friend of Epstein's, pledged in 2024 to release Department of Justice files concerning the convicted sex offender if elected. However, once in office, his administration reportedly took steps to prevent these files from becoming public. A review by The New York Times indicated that Trump's name appeared approximately 38,000 times in the files that have been released thus far. Representative Jamie Raskin (D-Md.) has stated that a search of unredacted files accessible to lawmakers yielded over a million results for Trump's name.
