Comedian Joe Lycett Banished from 'Celebrity Traitors' After Revealing Desire to be a Traitor
Lycett's thinly veiled confessions about wanting to join the Traitors ultimately led to his downfall at the roundtable, while a new Traitor was recruited and tasked with a murder.
Comedian Joe Lycett has been banished from the Celebrity Traitors castle after his outspoken desire to become a Traitor backfired, leading to his downfall at the roundtable.
During breakfast, Lycett's earlier pronouncements about wanting to switch sides to the Traitors cohort, coupled with a slip-up during a discussion about potential recruitments, led to him receiving the majority of votes from the other contestants. "Let's say they were down to two last night and they recruited, there's so much heat on me for what I was doing last night that there's a good chance that I'll go tonight, which means that they will then have to recruit again tonight, denying them of murder," Lycett had stated, sparking confusion and suspicion.
Despite his confessions, Lycett maintained he had been a Faithful all along. "I always wanted to start as a Faithful and end as a Traitor. I started as a Faithful, and I did not get my wish. I am a Faithful," he said before his banishment.
His departure proved emotional for fellow contestant Miranda Hart, who had formed a close bond with Lycett. Hart expressed her sadness at voting against him, stating, "I physically couldn't write your name down." She later broke down in tears, reflecting on the connection and joy she found with Lycett during the game. Leigh-Anne Pinnock attempted to lift Hart's spirits by teaching her choreography from Little Mix's song "Touch."
Meanwhile, a new Traitor, identified as King Kenny, was recruited and immediately tasked with a mission to "murder in plain sight." Alongside existing Traitors Maya Jama and James Acaster, Kenny was given a peacock bottle containing sleeping powder. Their objective was to lure a target into the room and induce a yawn, causing them to inhale the powder.
The potential victims for this elaborate murder plot were identified as Jerry Hall and Ross Kemp. The episode concluded without revealing the outcome of the Traitors' mission, leaving viewers in suspense until the next installment.
