Comedian Carrot Top Hospitalized Following Reported Suicide Attempt
Authorities were observed at the Las Vegas home of comedian Carrot Top after reports of a suicide attempt, and his representative confirmed he is hospitalized.
Las Vegas police were seen outside the home of comedian Carrot Top, whose real name is Scott Thompson, on Friday, September 18, following reports of a suicide attempt. The comedian's representative, Jami Schlicher, confirmed to Page Six on Saturday that Thompson is hospitalized and "receiving the care and support he needs."
"His family and those closest to him are deeply grateful for the concern, prayers and respectfully ask for privacy," Schlicher added. She did not elaborate on the circumstances leading to his hospitalization.
Images obtained by TMZ showed multiple police vehicles, with flashing lights, parked outside Thompson's residence. The comedian's self-titled show at the Luxor Hotel and Casino, which has been a long-running residency since 2005, had its performances on Friday and Saturday canceled.
Reps for the Luxor Hotel and Casino did not immediately respond to requests for comment. Thompson is known for his prop-comedy performances and his distinctive red, spiky hair. He gained fame in the 1990s through appearances on shows such as "Star Search" and "Comic Strip Live." He most recently appeared in an episode of the HBO Max comedy "Hacks."
