Comedian Carrot Top was hospitalized in Las Vegas, Nevada, following an alleged suicide attempt, according to TMZ.
The 61-year-old entertainer, whose real name is Scott Christopher Thompson, reportedly attempted to take his own life on Friday. The incident occurred just hours before he was scheduled to perform at the Luxor Hotel and Casino.
Sources indicated that Thompson was rushed to a nearby hospital, and his performance for that evening was subsequently canceled. Representatives for Thompson have not confirmed the specific reason for his hospitalization. However, a statement from his representative, Jami Schlicher, said that Thompson is "recovering in the hospital and is receiving the care and support he needs."
"His family and those closest to him are deeply grateful for the concern, prayers and respectfully ask for privacy," Schlicher told TMZ.
