The Indianapolis Colts have signed wide receiver Darius Slayton, bringing him in to reunite with quarterback Daniel Jones. The move comes after an injury to receiver Alec Pierce and amid potential disciplinary action for veteran Keenan Allen.

Pierce reinjured his left heel, which required surgery, and is expected to miss time, though he is aiming for a midseason return after rehabilitation. Allen, a six-time Pro Bowler, is reportedly facing an NFL suspension following a recent drunk driving arrest, although the league has not yet issued a ruling.

Slayton, 29, was released by the New York Giants before the start of the season. He spent parts of six seasons with the Giants after being drafted in the same class as Jones in 2019. During his tenure, Slayton accumulated 4,435 receiving yards and 22 touchdowns.

His addition aims to bolster a Colts receiving corps facing significant depth concerns. In the Colts' Week 2 overtime loss to the Kansas City Chiefs, Josh Downs led the team with seven catches for 72 yards. Laquon Treadwell added three catches for 61 yards, while tight end Tyler Warren contributed six catches for 21 yards and a touchdown. Running back Jonathan Taylor also had four catches for 40 yards.

Jones completed 22 of 31 passes for 210 yards, one touchdown, and one interception in the loss to the Chiefs. The 29-year-old quarterback is recovering from a torn Achilles suffered in the 2025 season, which he overcame to start Week 1. Last season, Jones posted a career-high 68 percent completion rate, throwing for 3,101 yards with 19 touchdowns and eight interceptions, along with five rushing touchdowns.

The Colts currently sit at 0-2 to start the season. Their next game is a crucial division matchup at home against the Houston Texans, who also have an 0-2 record.
