Colts Quarterback Anthony Richardson Charged With Marijuana Possession
The misdemeanor charge stems from a traffic stop in Indiana last week.
Indianapolis Colts quarterback Anthony Richardson has been charged with misdemeanor marijuana possession following a traffic stop in Indiana. The charge was officially filed on Monday, October 19.
The incident occurred on October 12 in Carmel, Indiana, when officers pulled over a Dodge Charger for expired license plates. According to court documents, the officer noted the smell of marijuana emanating from the vehicle.
Richardson reportedly admitted to smoking marijuana inside the car and told the officer he had a small amount of the substance in the vehicle. A subsequent search of the car revealed a small jar of suspected marijuana and an opened bag of THC-infused gummies. Field tests confirmed that both substances tested positive for THC.
The quarterback was issued a citation for the expired registration and agreed to appear in court. His initial hearing, scheduled for December 9, was waived, and a bench trial is now set for January 4, 2027. The Colts have not yet issued a statement regarding the charge or Richardson's status with the team.
