Colorado Estate With Hidden Mountainside Car Gallery Lists for $12.5 Million

A luxury estate in The Village at Castle Pines, Colorado, featuring a unique mountainside car gallery, has been listed for $12.5 million. The property, located at 3 Elk Pointe Lane, sits on nearly 7 acres adjacent to the eighth fairway of the Castle Pines Golf Club and spans approximately 13,800 square feet. If sold at its asking price, it would represent the highest residential sale in Castle Rock.

The home was designed by architect Don Ruggles and built by Montare for owners Lewis and Rebecca Kling. Listing agents Stacie Chadwick of LIV Sotheby’s International Realty and Justin Joseph highlight the precise design, noting that the owners made no significant updates in the 16 years since its construction.

Upon entering the residence, a 140-foot-long gallery with 21-foot ceilings, walnut floors, and limestone pillars leads to a floor-to-ceiling glass wall, framing the surrounding landscape. Architect Don Ruggles strategically positioned the home on the site to optimize views, reportedly shifting its placement during construction to perfectly align the view of Pikes Peak through the gallery's entrance.

Throughout the house, solid walnut is featured in the floors, doors, cabinetry, and coffered ceilings. A two-story water feature and a floating walnut-and-steel staircase are prominent interior elements. The estate includes a total of 11 fireplaces, with seven located indoors and four outdoors.

The dining room, designed to seat 12, is illuminated by three crystal chandeliers and opens into a 400-bottle wine room. The kitchen is equipped with Gaggenau appliances, seating for six at the bar, and a television that retracts into view.

The primary suite offers a fireplace, a private deck, and a bathroom featuring a three-sided steam shower. Additionally, four en suite bedrooms on the lower level each provide access to a deck or patio. The property boasts approximately 8,000 square feet of outdoor living space, with nearly every room connected to the exterior.

Other amenities include a theater with a 108-inch screen, a fitness suite with a sauna, and a panic room. A Crestron/Vantage system manages approximately 620 interior and exterior lights.

The centerpiece of the estate is its 3,400-square-foot subterranean car gallery, accessible via a hydraulic elevator from the circular drive. This hidden space can accommodate around 10 vehicles and includes its own kitchen, bar, fireplace, and bathroom. The gallery also features Hermès-inspired etched glass and a fireplace overlooking the golf course fairway.

Outdoor features include a trail leading to a heated treehouse and sculptures by artist Jim Vilona. The estate was recognized as a finalist for the 2016 Colorado Homes & Lifestyles Home of the Year, and its landscape design received a Grand Award from the National Association of Landscape Professionals.

Residents of The Village at Castle Pines have access to amenities such as two Jack Nicklaus-designed golf courses, hiking trails, and tennis and pickleball courts. Chadwick stated that the property's combination of architectural design, engineering, art, privacy, and amenities makes it exceptionally rare and difficult to replicate.
