Collinsworth Notes Mahomes' Rare Frustration in Chiefs' Blowout Loss

Cris Collinsworth, a prominent broadcaster for NBC's "Sunday Night Football," noted a rare display of frustration and disbelief on the face of Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes during the team's significant 20-3 loss to the Seattle Seahawks. Collinsworth described seeing a look on Mahomes' face that he had only witnessed once before when the quarterback recovered his own fumble earlier in the game.

"That’s the second time I’ve seen that look on Patrick Mahomes’ face," Collinsworth said during the broadcast. "When he went back and recovered that fumble earlier, I saw that same sort of ‘I can’t believe this is happening to me’ look. There it is again. Have you ever seen that look on Patrick Mahomes?"

Mahomes appeared visibly frustrated during the game, particularly after failing to lead the Chiefs to a touchdown drive against the Seahawks. The pressure on Mahomes was intense throughout the contest; he faced pressure on 19 of his 36 dropbacks, marking the fourth-highest rate of his career in regular season or playoff games.

Following the game, Mahomes acknowledged the team's performance and the challenges they face. "If you don’t come ready to play, you can get your tail kicked in this league," Mahomes stated. "We have a young team; it’ll be how we respond from this."

The Chiefs' offensive struggles were evident in the statistics. Mahomes completed 19 of 33 passes for 165 yards, with no touchdowns and one interception. His leading receivers were tight ends Noah Gray and Travis Kelce, who each had 44 receiving yards. Wide receivers Xavier Worthy and rookie Cyrus Allen contributed limited yardage, with three catches for 11 yards and one for 18 yards, respectively. Wide receiver Rashee Rice missed his second consecutive game due to hamstring and knee injuries.

The team's offensive performance also saw Kenneth Walker, acquired in the offseason to support Mahomes, held to 36 yards on 14 carries against his former teammates. The loss comes as the Chiefs navigate a season that has seen them struggle to replicate their previous dominance, a period that included a playoff absence and Mahomes' ACL tear in December of the previous year.

With the NFL trade deadline approaching on November 10, speculation continues regarding potential moves by the Chiefs to bolster their receiving corps, potentially through trades for a wide receiver or a reunion with a former player like Tyreek Hill.

The Chiefs are set to face the Denver Broncos next Sunday in Denver as they aim to rebound from this significant defeat.
