Collin Gosselin to Estranged Mother Kate: 'Hope You Enjoy'

Collin Gosselin, son of former reality TV stars Kate and Jon Gosselin, has offered a succinct message to his estranged mother, Kate, as he prepares to debut on the upcoming season of FOX's "Special Forces: World's Toughest Test." When asked if he had anything to say to her should she watch the show, Collin, 22, responded with a laugh, "Well, if she does, ‘Hey, Mom!' Hope you enjoy."

Collin's participation in the competition comes ahead of the release of his memoir, "In the Shadow of Eight: Surviving the Reality of My Childhood," scheduled for an October 13 release. He described the writing process as therapeutic, stating it allowed him to reflect on his experiences growing up in the public eye on the TLC series "Jon & Kate Plus 8."

"I'm an adult now, and there's enough of my life that my mom took from me and [my] childhood that she robbed from me, and this isn't about her — it's about me," Collin told Page Six. "It's about growth. It's about the amazing people I've met, and the amazing journey and adventure that we went on."

His memoir is slated to delve into the "dark side of fame," including experiences such as being "held down [in] the basement cell where he was hidden for years and the cocktail of powerful antipsychotics forced on an 11-year-old boy." The publisher's description indicates the book will expose the "systems, the entourage, and the institutions that allowed one boy to be erased."

Collin has previously accused Kate of "child abuse and child exploitation," claims that Kate has denied. Her lawyer stated in September 2024 that Kate did not believe she had intentionally harmed Collin and that her actions were taken to protect herself and her family from his "troubled behavior."

Kate Gosselin previously competed in Season 1 of "Special Forces: World's Toughest Test," but her appearance was cut short due to a neck injury sustained on the first day.

Collin also shared his perspective on his childhood and the industry, stating, "There’s a big voice in my story that will never die, that flame in me will never die. This book is going to expose a lot. … Children deserve to be protected, and that’s what you can expect from my story."

When asked if he felt nervous about the memoir's release, he directly replied, "I'm not the one that should be nervous. We're putting it all out there, let's just say that."

Collin is estranged from most of his siblings, including sextuplet siblings Hannah, Aaden, Joel, Alexis, and Leah, as well as his twin sisters Cara and Madelyn, with the exception of his sister Hannah.

"Special Forces: World's Toughest Test" is scheduled to premiere on September 24 on FOX.
