Collin Gosselin Pleads for Reconnection with Estranged Siblings
The former reality TV star expressed deep love for his siblings despite nearly a decade of estrangement, citing 'horrible triangulation' during their upbringing.
Collin Gosselin has issued a heartfelt plea to his siblings with whom he has been estranged for nearly a decade, expressing his enduring love and lamenting the deep divisions that grew between them. The 22-year-old, once a child star on the TLC series "Jon & Kate Plus 8," shared his feelings during a recent interview promoting his new memoir, "In the Shadow of Eight: Surviving the Reality of My Childhood."
"The last time I told them I loved them was [at a] reunion that we had at about 14 or 15 years old," Gosselin told Page Six. "I do love them very much." He described the family's upbringing as a time when "triangulation occurred in our home and that we were, we were pitted against each other." He found this dynamic particularly painful, questioning, "how do you do that to siblings that were all born together on the same day?"
Collin is one of six sextuplets, alongside Aaden, Joel, Alexis, Hannah, and Leah. His parents, Jon and Kate Gosselin, also have older twin daughters, Mady and Cara. The family gained widespread recognition on "Jon & Kate Plus 8," which chronicled their lives raising eight children.
Despite the years of separation, Gosselin stated that his affection for his siblings remains unchanged. "I love them very much, and I want them to know that what was done to us as children is not normal," he said. He reflected on his own past struggles, admitting, "I was very broken; I was very hurt." However, he affirmed, "I’d fight that battle every day again to make a point that the things that we were put through was not healthy."
In his memoir, Gosselin writes directly to his siblings: "To Maddy, Cara, Alexis, Aaden, Leah, and Joel: No matter what’s happened or what was said, no matter how things look from the outside—I love you. I always have and always will."
This public expression of longing for his siblings follows similar sentiments shared previously. In August 2025, Collin posted a message on TikTok alleging that he and his siblings were "forced apart."
He shared throwback photos of himself and his siblings, writing, "Born to be a team, us against the world…" and "Forced to do it alone, and wonder every day what our lives could’ve looked like." He added, "Forced apart, pitted against each other. All the fame and money in the world, but what about kids being kids?"
Collin has been estranged from his mother, Kate Gosselin, since 2016. He was sent to live in a behavioral health institution at age 11, according to reports. Jon Gosselin, his father, gained legal and physical custody of Collin in 2018 after securing his release from the facility. Jon also obtained custody of Hannah, while the remaining sextuplets and the older twins continued to reside with Kate.
Representatives for Kate Gosselin and TLC did not immediately respond to requests for comment. Collin's memoir, "In the Shadow of Eight: Surviving the Reality of My Childhood," was released on Tuesday.
