Collin Gosselin, son of Kate Gosselin, is set to appear in the upcoming season of Fox's "Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test," marking his return to reality television. The 22-year-old is among the celebrity contestants for the show's fifth season, which is scheduled to premiere on September 24.
This appearance comes as Gosselin prepares to release his memoir, "In the Shadow of Eight: Surviving the Reality of My Childhood," on October 13. The book is expected to detail his estranged relationship with his mother and his experiences growing up in the public eye on TLC's "Jon & Kate Plus 8" and its successor, "Kate Plus 8."
Sources indicate that Kate Gosselin was unaware of her son's memoir plans and is concerned about its contents. An insider told the Daily Mail that Kate has denied allegations of abuse, stating that any accusations are based on "zero facts." However, Collin claims to have evidence to support his accounts.
Collin previously spoke out against his mother in a 2023 documentary and a 2024 interview with The Sun, accusing her of abuse and parental alienation. He also revealed that he was placed in a mental health facility at age 11 after being diagnosed with autism, ADHD, and bipolar disorder. Kate Gosselin, in a statement to People, confirmed her son's diagnoses and stated his placement in a facility was for his well-being and the safety of the family after outpatient treatment proved insufficient. Collin was later re-diagnosed as an adult and found to have no current psychiatric or behavioral issues.
Collin is also estranged from several of his siblings, including 22-year-old Hannah, whom his father, Jon Gosselin, was granted full custody of in 2018. Jon Gosselin also received full custody of Collin in 2018. Collin is also estranged from siblings Aaden, Alexis, Joel, and Leah, as well as 25-year-old twins Madelyn and Cara.
In an ironic turn, Kate Gosselin herself participated in the first season of "Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test" in 2023, but was the first contestant eliminated. Other celebrities joining Collin on the upcoming season include Brandi Glanville, Mauricio Umansky and daughter Alexia Umansky, Breana Tiesi, Candace Cameron Bure, Ruby Rose, George Santos, David Charvet, Hannah Stocking, Oliver Hudson, LeSean McCoy, Maxim Naumov, Matt Barnes, and Alycia Baumgardner.
