College Student Attacked by Group After Asking Them to Leave Property

A college student in Pennsylvania was severely assaulted by a group of individuals after she asked them to leave her property. The incident, which occurred in the early hours of Saturday, September 12, was captured on video outside a home near York College, approximately 25 miles south of Harrisburg.

According to witnesses, the confrontation began when the York College student requested that the non-student group vacate her property. The group then allegedly attacked the student, dragging her from the porch into the street. One student described the scene to WGAL, stating, "Literally 8 to 12 girls grabbing this girl by her hair, punching her, kicking her. They dragged her from her porch onto the street."

Another student, who spoke anonymously to Fox 43, recounted that she and her roommates were on the porch when an unknown woman initiated a verbal dispute. "After the first punch was given, all these girls started to rush us, and that's where it kind of gets blurry because I think people were coming at me," the student said. "I turn and see my friend get dragged by her hair down our porch steps and disappear. My other friend got dragged by her hair."

The victims sustained bruises and cuts. The student who spoke to Fox 43 claimed that 911 was called multiple times before police arrived.

York City Police stated that officers were engaged in a prior critical incident investigation at the time of the call. Responding officers arrived at 1:52 a.m., at which point the large gathering had dispersed. "York City police officers continued to monitor the area while a patrol officer met with the victims involved in the fight and gathered additional evidence," the department said.

Because the altercation took place off-campus, York College campus police did not have jurisdiction, and York City Police handled the response. The college has stated it is cooperating with local law enforcement.

In a statement, York College officials emphasized that student safety is their top priority and confirmed that individuals not affiliated with the college initiated the physical altercation. The school is offering support to affected students, including the option to relocate back to campus housing for those living on West Jackson Street.

York College leadership is also in ongoing discussions with York City officials and law enforcement regarding community safety around the campus.
