A college baseball player was fatally shot by police in Upper Pottsgrove Township, Pennsylvania, after he mistakenly tried to enter a stranger's home following a night out with friends. Glenwood "Bubba" Pysher IV, 22, died on Aug. 23, 2026, after police responded to a 911 call reporting a possible break-in.

The Montgomery County District Attorney's office confirmed that officers arrived at the Snyder Road residence to find a male at the rear of the property. An encounter ensued, and Pysher was shot and killed by an officer, according to investigators. Pysher's mother, Erin Pysher, stated her son was unarmed at the time of the shooting and was allegedly shot twice.

Pysher had been at a bar celebrating a friend's 21st birthday and was heading to another friend's house. His mother said he took a wrong turn and approached what he believed was his friend's house, knocking on the back door and asking to be let in. The homeowners, unaware of the mistake, called the police to report an attempted burglary.

Pysher was preparing for his senior year at St. Elizabeth College in New Jersey, where he played baseball. His previous college baseball stops included Francis Marion University, Northampton Community College, and Holy Ghost University. His mother described him as a loving individual who enjoyed life, spending time with friends, fishing, and had aspirations of becoming a history teacher and baseball coach.

The police officer involved in the shooting has been placed on administrative leave. The District Attorney's office stated that the fatal shooting is an active investigation, and findings will be released to the media upon its completion. Erin Pysher expressed grief over the loss of her son, noting his good character and the significant void his death has left in their lives.
