Colin Farrell Sports New Buzzcut Amid 'The Batman Part II' Preparations
The actor was seen in Los Angeles with a dramatically shorter hairstyle, as he gears up to reprise his role as The Penguin.
Colin Farrell, 50, debuted a dramatically shorter buzzcut during a low-key outing in Los Angeles this week, drawing attention as he prepares to reprise his role as Oswald Cobblepot/The Penguin in the forthcoming "The Batman Part II."
The Irish actor was spotted grabbing lunch with friends on Wednesday before heading to his next engagement. He kept his attire casual, opting for a green short-sleeved shirt, loose black trousers, brown shoes, and a blue cap. At one point, Farrell removed his hat, revealing his newly shaven head.
This is not the first time the actor has sported a buzzcut. He famously shaved his head in 2021 while preparing to play The Penguin in the 2022 film "The Batman." He also adopted a similar look in the early 2000s for promotional appearances for films such as "Minority Report" and "Phone Booth."
Farrell is set to return as The Penguin in "The Batman Part II," directed by Matt Reeves. The movie is currently in its production stages, with a scheduled theatrical release in February 2028. The sequel's cast also includes Robert Pattinson, Jeffrey Wright, Sebastian Stan, Scarlett Johansson, Charles Dance, and Andy Serkis. While most plot details remain under wraps, some cast members have offered brief insights into the upcoming film.
In June, Farrell mentioned his upcoming filming schedule for "The Batman Part II," stating he would be traveling to London in four to five weeks for a few weeks of work. He described the script, co-written by Reeves, as "extraordinary" and a "contemporary genre masterwork," praising its depth and intelligence.
"The Batman Part II" is expected to begin principal photography at the end of 2025, according to star Robert Pattinson, who spoke with Deadline in February 2025. Pattinson described the sequel's story as "cool."
Beyond his film work, Farrell has also been active in television. He stars as a private investigator in the Apple TV neo-noir mystery drama "Sugar," which premiered its second season in June. The series follows John Sugar as he navigates the darker aspects of Los Angeles while battling a dangerous secret.
