Colin Farrell's Son James Appears in Documentary Trailer Amid Battle with Rare Neurological Disease

Colin Farrell's son, James, who has Angelman syndrome, made a rare appearance in the trailer for the upcoming HBO documentary "The Slightest Touch." The trailer shows a tender moment between the actor and his 23-year-old son.

In the teaser released by HBO on Wednesday, October 28, Farrell is seen sharing an affectionate exchange with James during an interview. The pair are shown smiling and laughing, with Farrell embracing his son.

James was diagnosed with Angelman syndrome, a rare neurogenetic disorder, as a toddler. According to the Mayo Clinic, the condition affects the nervous system and can lead to developmental delays, speech difficulties, challenges with balance and movement, intellectual disability, and seizures.

Farrell shares James with his ex-girlfriend Kim Bordenave. He also has a 17-year-old son, Henry, with former partner Alicja Bachleda-Curus.

The documentary "The Slightest Touch" centers on Farrell's longtime friend Emma Fogarty and her experience living with epidermolysis bullosa, a rare genetic disorder that causes fragile, blistering skin. Fogarty was diagnosed with the condition as a child and was initially not expected to survive.

Farrell and Fogarty are planning to run the Dublin Marathon together for her 40th birthday. The documentary trailer includes clips of their friendship and Farrell training for the marathon. It also shows him pushing Fogarty's wheelchair for the final four kilometers of the race.

James makes a brief appearance in the documentary, which is set to premiere on HBO on November 25.

Two years ago, Farrell discussed his son James's diagnosis and his efforts to support adults with intellectual disabilities through the Colin Farrell Foundation. He expressed a desire for James to be treated with kindness and respect, noting the challenges faced by individuals with disabilities after they turn 21 and the services that become less accessible.

Farrell established the foundation to provide advocacy, education, and programs for young adults with intellectual disabilities, aiming to ensure they are integrated into society. He stated that he made the decision to speak publicly about the foundation based on his understanding of James's spirit and character, as he cannot directly ascertain James's comfort level with such public discussions.

Farrell has spoken about James's determination and progress, highlighting his hard work in areas such as feeding himself and improving balance. He expressed pride in his son's achievements, calling him "magic."
