Coleen Rooney Reflects on Noughties Fashion and Expansive Dressing Room

Coleen Rooney is revisiting her past style choices, cringing at some of her Noughties outfits while offering fans a glimpse into her expansive designer dressing room. In her new docuseries, "The Real Rooneys," Rooney reflects on her journey from a teenage style that drew criticism to her current status as a public figure.

During the series, Rooney admitted she almost declined a collaboration with Primark, doubting her status as a "fashion icon" and fearing the collection would be unsuccessful. Her husband, Wayne Rooney, offered fashion advice, suggesting pyjamas should include pockets, a suggestion Coleen dismissed, noting his own lack of interest in fashion.

Rooney looked back at several of her notable looks from the early 2000s, ensembles that led to her being labeled a "chav." She recalled a 2005 appearance in a satin midi dress, thick belt, and Christian Louboutin boots, laughing at her tan and hair extensions. Another memorable outfit was a black strapless gown worn to the 2005 National Television Awards, which she speculated might have been from a charity shop.

She also reminisced about a bright 2004 ensemble featuring a neon green Von Dutch hat and T-shirt paired with a yellow Chloe handbag. Rooney explained she wore the vibrant outfit to England football matches so her then-boyfriend, Wayne, could spot her in the crowd. Another outfit that drew her criticism was a Missoni poncho and matching beanie from the same year, a look she now finds cringe-worthy.

Rooney's mother, Colette McLoughlin, commented on her daughter's style, recalling her being known as the "Queen of Aintree" but also mentioning the public criticism she received for items like yellow moon boots. McLoughlin noted that these were popular trends at the time and not exclusive to Coleen.

Discussing her £20 million Cheshire home, built in 2022, Rooney revealed that designing her dressing room was a top priority. While the room is large and filled with designer items like Chanel handbags and numerous sunglasses, she expressed that it was not as expansive as she had initially envisioned during the planning stages. She also humorously noted her refusal to share wardrobe space with her husband.

"The Real Rooneys" is a 10-part docuseries that premiered on September 24. The show garnered significant interest, leading to a bidding war between Disney+ and Amazon, with Disney+ securing the rights for a reported £10 million fee. Sources indicated that Coleen Rooney would receive £5 million, with the remainder going to the production company. The series offers an inside look at the Rooney family's life, chronicling their relationships, raising their four sons, and supporting their eldest son Kai's football aspirations, promising personal revelations, career milestones, and family experiences.
