Coleen Rooney made a striking appearance in a head-to-toe white satin ensemble at the London premiere of her new Disney+ series, "The Real Rooneys," on Tuesday. She was accompanied by her husband, former footballer Wayne Rooney, for the launch event held at Picturehouse Central in Piccadilly Circus.
The 10-part reality series promises to delve behind the scenes of the Rooney family, chronicling their lives as they balance careers and parenting their four sons: Kai, 16, Klay, 13, Kit, 10, and Cass, eight. A synopsis for the show describes unprecedented access to the family's highs and lows, personal revelations, career moments, celebrations, and holidays, portraying them as "warm, funny and authentic."
Teasers for "The Real Rooneys" have offered glimpses of happy family moments, the children's antics, and tensions within the couple's 18-year marriage. One trailer clip features Coleen expressing frustration with Wayne during a family holiday, saying, "This is supposed to be a family holiday. You can't keep doing what you're doing." Wayne responds humorously, referencing past scandals by saying, "The doghouse manual? I'm on me third book." Coleen is also seen confiding in a friend about the challenges of juggling everything, stating, "It's hard juggling everything, like the house is not happy."
The series covers the family at their Cheshire home and during travels to Barbados, Disneyland Paris, and the Alps. The show also touches upon Coleen's public profile, including her past legal battles and career opportunities that arose from them. She acknowledges that the "Wagatha Christie" scandal and her appearance on "I'm A Celebrity" in 2024 led to significant career prospects, including her Primark clothing line and a high-profile advert with Paddy Power Games.
The series reportedly secured a significant deal, with Disney+ winning a bidding war against Amazon with a £10 million fee. Sources suggest Coleen will receive £5 million, with the remainder allocated to the production company Lorton Entertainment. Insiders noted the high demand for the show, drawing parallels to the success of the Beckham documentary.
Notable attendees at the premiere included friends Darron Gibson and his wife Danielle, and Phil Bardsley with his wife Tanya, who also posed for photos on the red carpet. "This Morning" presenter Sian Welby and "Love Island" couple Nathan Massey and Cara De La Hoyde were also present to support the Rooneys.
"The Real Rooneys" is set to premiere on Disney+ on September 24.
