Coleen Rooney Considered Separation from Wayne Amid Marital Strife, New Docuseries Reveals

Coleen Rooney has revealed she contemplated separating from her husband, Wayne Rooney, due to explosive arguments that left them not speaking for days. These revelations come in their new £10 million docuseries, "The Real Rooneys," which offers an intimate look into their family life.

In the series, filmed last year, both Coleen and Wayne, both 40, discuss the complexities of their relationship. Coleen candidly admitted in a one-to-camera interview after a row during a holiday, "There are times when I think the answer to everything is to see what it's like if we are separated." The couple's youngest son is eight-year-old Cass, and their eldest is Kai, 16.

The series also highlights the challenges Wayne has faced following his dismissal from managerial positions. After being sacked by Plymouth Argyle in 2024 after just 25 matches and earlier by Birmingham City, Wayne expressed uncertainty about his future in football management. He noted the unpredictable nature of management compared to a playing career, stating, "In management you don't know whether you'll be there a year, two years, 10 years or three months. You never know so you're not prepared when you lose the job."

Coleen acknowledged the difficulty of Wayne's situation, saying, "Losing the job at Plymouth is probably the hardest situation he's ever had to be in because all he's ever known is football. It's been difficult." Wayne, however, remains pragmatic, adding, "I get it I might not manage again and I get it and it's not an issue for me."

Adding to the domestic narrative, Coleen expressed the need for more household help from Wayne, particularly as she juggles work commitments, including designing a Primark collection and filming adverts. "I really need Wayne to help a lot more around the house, which could cause a lot of arguments," she admitted. "Wayne is a good dad but he is a bit carefree and a bit careless. It does cause a few arguments."

The series also provides a glimpse into their lavish lifestyle, including a tour of their £20 million Cheshire home, nicknamed The Morrisons Mansion, which they built in 2022 on 50 acres of farmland. The home features a private football pitch, a home cinema, an indoor swimming pool, a spa, and a wine cellar. While Coleen envisioned a grand dressing room, Wayne's priorities were more focused on a games room and a snooker table.

The show also touches upon the burgeoning football careers of their sons, particularly Kai, who is eligible for a professional contract at Manchester United. Wayne observed Kai's talent, noting, "He's very similar to me, it's like watching myself with a left foot. Mad. Kai plays for Manchester United Academy and he is very driven, he scores goals and he wants it."

"The Real Rooneys" comprises 10 episodes and offers viewers unprecedented access to the family's life, covering highs and lows, family holidays, and career moments. The series was reportedly secured by Disney+ for a £10 million fee.
