Cody Simpson, the Australian singer and former competitive swimmer, has announced he is currently unable to walk or talk due to a double injury. He shared on Instagram that he is dealing with a damaged vocal cord and a dislocated knee, which will significantly impact his upcoming music projects.
Simpson revealed that he has been on vocal rest for nearly three months attempting to heal a damaged vocal cord. A decision was made to undergo surgery to assist the recovery process. However, during rehearsals for a new music video, he dislocated his knee, necessitating a postponement of the surgery to allow his knee to stabilize.
"I can’t walk or talk for some time now, and no singing or dancing for months to come," Simpson stated on Instagram. He described the situation as "forced rest" after years of continuously pushing his physical and mental limits.
The injuries mean that his album and live shows will be delayed. Simpson noted that he was able to record several singles before these setbacks occurred and plans to share some of this work while he is recovering. He expressed confidence in his eventual return, stating, "I’ll be back stronger."
Simpson had previously announced in May that he suffered a hemorrhage on one of his vocal cords while recording new music. He attributed that injury to "overzealousness in the studio singing through a sinus infection I didn’t know I had." At the time, he continued working, assuming his fatigue was due to the demanding schedule until he was unable to sing.
