The U.S. Coast Guard has launched a search for a twin-engine, mid-size jet that vanished Saturday morning while en route to Boston from Bermuda. The aircraft, identified as a Gulfstream G100, was carrying six people.
Air and surface crews have been deployed to the area off the coast of Nantucket, according to the Coast Guard Northeast District. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) reported losing contact with the aircraft early Saturday. The plane took off from Bermuda International Airport at 11:41 p.m. ET.
The FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
