A U.S. Coast Guard crew successfully rescued eight individuals, including an infant and a child, after a vessel capsized Friday afternoon near the Sanibel Causeway in Florida.

Responders from U.S. Coast Guard Station Fort Myers Beach arrived quickly at the scene of the capsized boat. The operation resulted in the safe recovery of everyone from the water.

Officials attributed the success of the rescue to the crew's preparedness and teamwork. Photos shared by the Coast Guard Station Fort Myers Beach show the boat nearly submerged in the water following the rescue.

"A successful mission is measured by the lives brought home safely," the Coast Guard station stated in a social media post. "When seconds matter, preparation, communication, and teamwork make all the difference. We are grateful for the opportunity to serve our community and thankful that this incident ended with everyone returning home safely. Our thoughts are with those involved, and we’re proud of every responder who played a role in this successful rescue."

The Coast Guard highlighted the rescue as a reminder of the importance of constant training and readiness to respond at any time. The Sanibel Causeway is located in southwest Florida, west of Fort Myers on the Gulf Coast.
