Four crew members sustained minor injuries Monday when a Coast Guard helicopter crashed during a routine training flight in southeast Alaska, officials said. The MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter came down several miles outside Sitka in a sparsely populated area near Harbor Mountain.

Rescuers arrived around 11 a.m., approximately one hour after the crash, and transported all four crew members to Mt. Edgecumbe Medical Center. Rear Adm. Bob Little, commander of the Coast Guard’s Arctic District, stated in a release, “We are incredibly relieved our crew members survived with only minor injuries.”

The Coast Guard has announced that an investigation into the cause of the crash will be conducted. This incident follows a series of three major aircraft crashes that have occurred this month.
