Christopher Lee Drummond, 40, an heir to the Drummond Company coal mining fortune, has been arrested and charged with domestic violence offenses in Jefferson County, Alabama. The charges stem from alleged assaults on his wife, Alexis Drummond, 37, occurring between September 2025 and February 2026.
Drummond faces felony domestic violence strangulation/suffocation charges in Birmingham related to an alleged incident on September 1, 2025. Nine days later, on September 10, he was charged with misdemeanor domestic violence for a separate incident.
In Mountain View, Drummond is charged with domestic violence strangulation/suffocation for an alleged attack on his wife at their seven-bedroom mansion on February 25. The property is valued at $4 million.
Alexis Drummond has obtained a protection from abuse order against her husband, alleging repeated physical abuse throughout their six-year relationship. Her filings detail accusations of strangulation, assault while pregnant, and a gun being held to her head.
These Alabama charges follow a conviction in Monaco. In June, Christopher Drummond was found guilty of intentional violence against a spouse and sentenced to 45 days in jail after allegedly tearing a necklace from his wife's neck at the Hotel de Paris in Monte Carlo. He reportedly spent over a month incarcerated there before returning to the U.S. and being arrested on domestic violence charges.
Christopher Drummond was booked into Jefferson County Jail on Monday and later released after posting a $66,000 bond. He is scheduled to appear in court in September.
Christopher is the son of the late Garry Neil Drummond, former CEO of Drummond Company, who was once listed by Forbes as Alabama's wealthiest person. The company, founded in 1935, is a significant energy producer with substantial overseas assets.
Alexis Drummond has stated that she hopes the case remains unsealed for her truth to be heard, expressing a desire to leave and build a new life. She also alleges in a civil lawsuit that Christopher's attorneys trespassed and invaded her privacy, including allegedly "dognapping" her Maltese puppy, Mila, during their divorce proceedings. The couple married in March 2023 and share one child.
