CNN panelists praised Vice President JD Vance's recent media appearances, describing his performance as an "impressive glow-up" and a display of significant stamina. The discussion on CNN's "The Arena Saturday" focused on Vance's promotional tour for his new book and his defense of the Trump administration's policies.

Contributor Lulu Garcia-Navarro noted Vance's physical presentation, stating, "The glow-up of JD Vance for this is pretty impressive. The tan, the trimness, the sharp suits. I just want to note, you know, he is presenting himself in a very glowed-up fashion." Garcia-Navarro, who has previously interviewed Vance, also highlighted his effectiveness in interviews, calling him "an able communicator" and "one of his strong suits."

Former Rep. Patrick McHenry, R-N.C., characterized Vance's week as "a beast of a week" and lauded his endurance through numerous interviews. "I mean, he’s performed really well with tough interviews over and over and over again. I mean, just to watch that piece of it is an amazing piece of endurance," McHenry said.

Jamal Simmons, former communications director for former Vice President Kamala Harris, credited Vance for appearing on ABC's "The View," a program he considered "foreign territory" and potentially "a hostile environment." Simmons suggested he would not have advised most leaders to undertake such an appearance.

During his appearance on "The View," Vance addressed a remark by former President Trump regarding inflation. When challenged by co-host Ana Navarro, Vance clarified Trump's statement, saying, "What he said, Ana, what he said is that he loves the fact that the inflation is going to come down when this war is over. That’s what he said."

However, not all commentators on the CNN panel offered unqualified praise. Jonah Goldberg, editor-in-chief of The Dispatch, dissented from the general admiration, referring to the panel's discussion as a "JD Vance admiration society." Goldberg argued that Vance's effectiveness often stemmed from reframing opponents' positions or using misleading arguments. "That clip, dozens of other clips, demonstrate one of the biggest problems with JD Vance is that he’s always good at winning an argument when he is fighting a straw man, when he’s lying about the facts, when he is creating, when he’s working on a false premise," Goldberg stated.

Vance's media-intensive week included promoting his new memoir, "Communion: Finding My Way Back to Faith," released on June 16, and defending President Trump's memorandum of understanding with Iran.
