Recent polling and data indicate that the 2026 midterm elections could be heading toward "blowout territory," with a strong likelihood of one party achieving a decisive victory, according to CNN chief data analyst Harry Enten.

Enten's analysis, which he refers to as "The Enten Scale," suggests a 71% probability of one party winning the House of Representatives by a wide margin. The data overwhelmingly favors Democrats, who Enten estimates have a 69% chance of a significant victory, while Republicans have only a 2% chance of achieving a similar outcome.

The potential for a decisive result extends to the Senate as well, with Enten placing the odds of one party winning "with room to spare" at 81%. His analysis indicates a 57% chance of Democrats securing at least 52 seats, compared to a 24% chance for Republicans to win at least 51 seats.

However, Enten cautioned that Republicans have historically been underestimated in polling. He also pointed to factors such as former President Donald Trump's "atrocious" approval rating as potentially influencing the current data and projections.

The analysis was presented in a segment on CNN, with a full breakdown available in a linked video.
