George and Amal Clooney departed the 83rd Venice Film Festival on Saturday, following George Clooney's reception of the Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement.
Amal Clooney, a human rights lawyer, garnered attention for her fashion choices throughout the festival. On Saturday, she wore a £1,695 snake-print Elie Saab skirt paired with a black vest and brown belt, accessorized with wedged sandals, a leather handbag, and sunglasses.
George Clooney, 65, appeared in good spirits as the couple left the Italian city. He opted for a more casual ensemble of a navy polo shirt and beige chinos for their departure via water taxi.
During his acceptance speech earlier in the week, George Clooney, 65, paid tribute to his wife, describing her as a "badass" for her work representing Yazidi survivors and holding members of ISIS accountable for genocide. "By the way, my wife's the only person to have ever put ISIS on trial and won," he stated. "She's a badass, and she gets the job done."
He also referenced the public criticism they have faced due to his political commentary, including an op-ed about President Joe Biden. Clooney noted that despite public scrutiny, their family life includes "interesting conversations around the table," along with "a lot of laughing and a lot of love."
This year's festival was particularly significant for George Clooney, who has been a fixture at the event for nearly 30 years. His connection to Venice includes his wedding and the debut of "Good Night, and Good Luck," which earned him an Oscar nomination. On Wednesday, he received the Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement.
Earlier in the festival, Amal Clooney had also drawn attention for her style, including a £1,190 mesh Stella McCartney dress worn while holding hands with her husband.
George Clooney also attended the premiere of "Furies," a Lebanese heist thriller for which he served as executive producer. The film received positive early reviews from critics at the festival. During the premiere, Clooney was seen playfully taking photos with a large camera on the red carpet.
