Bill and Hillary Clinton recently shared a lunch with media executive Barry Diller and designer Diane von Fürstenberg on Italy's Amalfi Coast. Also present was Lee Brian Schrager, founder of the New York City Wine & Food Festival.

The gathering took place as Diller's company, People Inc., is reportedly in discussions with MGM Resorts regarding a potential acquisition of the casino company. The Wall Street Journal reported that Diller, who holds a 26% ownership stake in MGM Resorts, made an $18 billion offer to purchase the company. MGM Resorts has reportedly formed a special board committee to evaluate the offer.

Diller and von Fürstenberg were also in attendance at the Sun Valley conference in Idaho, often referred to as a "summer camp for moguls," hosted by investment banker Herb Allen.

The Clintons, Diller, and von Fürstenberg dined at Lo Scoglio, a restaurant on the Amalfi Coast known to have hosted other notable figures. The group reportedly engaged in a lively conversation and posed for photographs with the restaurant's owners, the De Simone family.

Separately, singer Adele was also vacationing in the area and was seen with filmmaker Tom Ford, in anticipation of her acting debut in his upcoming film "Cry to Heaven."

Earlier in July, Bill Clinton issued a statement on X (formerly Twitter) reflecting on the state of American democracy, stating, "Today, we celebrate this milestone amid another period of deep division, renewed questions about America's future and role in the world, and serious threats to our own institutions and to our democracy itself."

Diane von Fürstenberg's brand recently announced the appointment of Henry Zankov as artistic director, with his first collection set to debut at New York Fashion Week in September.
