Clients Allege Years of Deception by Suspended Lawyer Michael Inger
A woman reports receiving a critical email that cast doubt on her personal injury claim's progress, describing her experience as 'psychological torture.'
Clients of Michael Inger, a lawyer whose practicing certificate was suspended, have come forward alleging they were strung along for years regarding their legal claims. One client described her prolonged wait for her personal injury claim to advance as "agony."
Last month, Inger's practicing certificate was suspended by the Law Society of New South Wales until June 30, 2027. A second complaint from a former client is currently under preliminary assessment by the Law Society.
According to one client, an email from the Personal Injury Commission raised troubling questions about the information she had received from Inger, who operated Sydney Lawyers Direct. The email indicated that no dispute application had been lodged for her case, a revelation that left her questioning the progress and communication regarding her claim. She reportedly received this email after years of waiting for updates, describing the experience as "psychological torture."
Another client shared a text message exchange with her solicitor, expressing deep distress: "I don’t think I can do this anymore, I don’t have any more fight left in me. Let them win, I can’t take it anymore."
The Daily Mail reported that the woman was constantly awaiting updates about her claim, indicating a prolonged period of uncertainty. The specifics of the allegations suggest a pattern of clients feeling misled about the status and handling of their legal matters.
