Claudia Winkleman's "Chewbacca" Outfit Sparks Online Frenzy During Celebrity Traitors
Presenter's bold faux fur ensemble for a 'death parade' mission draws widespread comment from viewers.
Claudia Winkleman, host of Celebrity Traitors, has become the talk of social media following her distinctive outfit worn during a recent "death parade" mission on the show.
Winkleman, 54, sported a full-length chocolate brown shaggy faux fur coat paired with a large matching fur hat for the challenge. The ensemble drew immediate comparisons to the Star Wars character Chewbacca from viewers, who took to X (formerly Twitter) to share their amusement.
Comments included "Claudia coming in her best Chewbacca outfit;" and "How can anyone take this task seriously when Claudia is literally dressed like a yeti?"
During the mission, the celebrities were tasked with escaping a group of masked and cloaked figures to win £8,000 for the prize fund, a challenge they successfully completed. Winkleman accessorized her striking outerwear with her signature Bottega boots and a black Russian-style fur hat.
In addition to the furry statement pieces, Winkleman wore a £475 Johnstons of Elgin grey tank sweater over a £470 Thierry Colson puff-sleeve blouse, and £845 loafers.
The episode also saw comedian Rob Beckett become the latest "Faithful" to be eliminated, identified and "murdered" by the Traitors in a dramatic turn of events. Beckett discovered his fate in the crypt, saving fellow contestants Ross Kemp, Leigh-Anne Pinnock, and Romesh Ranganathan for another night.
Beckett expressed his understanding of the game's dynamics, stating his belief that his friend Romesh Ranganathan would seek to avenge his departure.
Winkleman, known for her quick wit, quipped about Beckett's exit, "You could say Beckett has kicked the bucket," noting that the joke took her considerable time to devise.
The return of Celebrity Traitors has also been marked by discussions surrounding inclusivity. Actress Myha'la, a contestant in the current series, addressed claims of racial and cultural bias within the show's format. She acknowledged that unconscious biases can exist, particularly when individuals unfamiliar with different cultural expressions perceive them as suspicious. However, Myha'la also defended her co-stars, asserting that their actions during the game were not consciously driven by racial bias. She was the second player to be banished from the show, a decision that prompted varied reactions from viewers and fellow contestants.
