Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas recounted a humorous exchange with Justice Samuel Alito about their time at Yale Law School, where Alito described Thomas as "scary." The conversation occurred during a rare interview with Sen. Ted Cruz for his podcast, "Verdict with Ted Cruz."

Thomas, reflecting on his relationships with his Supreme Court colleagues, noted that Alito was a year behind him at Yale. When Thomas asked Alito why they weren't friends despite attending the university together, Alito responded, "Clarence, you were scary."

Thomas explained that his appearance in law school contributed to this perception. He stated he consistently wore bib overalls and combat boots throughout his studies. "I'm so glad they didn't have these phones where you could take a lot of pictures," Thomas remarked.

During the same podcast episode, Cruz commented on Thomas's personal and political journey, noting that Thomas was a "left-wing radical" in college before evolving into a conservative thinker. Cruz praised Thomas's ascent, stating, "No other justice has overcome so much adversity to reach the very pinnacle of American law."
