A civilian was detained Saturday afternoon outside MacDill Air Force Base in Florida after allegedly breaching the base perimeter and violently engaging security personnel, according to the 6th Air Refueling Wing Public Affairs Office.
The incident occurred around 1 p.m. near the Dale Mabry Gate, resulting in non-life-threatening injuries to one security officer and the civilian. The gate was subsequently closed to inbound and outbound traffic until further notice.
MacDill Air Force Base, located in Tampa, serves as the headquarters for U.S. Central Command. The specific circumstances leading to the civilian's actions are currently under investigation.
