Cindy Crawford's Son Presley Gerber Died at 27 After Addiction Battle

Presley Gerber, son of supermodel Cindy Crawford and businessman Rande Gerber, died on Sunday at the age of 27. The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner confirmed his death occurred at a rehabilitation facility, though the cause has not yet been released. His family had rallied around him in the months leading up to his death as he openly discussed his struggles with addiction.

In March, Presley shared an Instagram post detailing his intention to undergo an Ibogaine treatment in Mexico. Ibogaine, a psychoactive substance derived from an African shrub, is known for its potential to aid in withdrawal symptoms and recalibrate brain pathways. Following his post, his family expressed their unwavering support.

Cindy Crawford wrote, "You are a warrior! Walked thru the fire to find yourself! So proud!" His sister, Kaia Gerber, added, "That's my brother. I am so damn proud." Rande Gerber echoed these sentiments, stating, "I'm so proud of you and your courage. Facing what's hard takes real strength and watching you find your way back to yourself is everything. I love you so much."

In his post, Presley described his fear and determination, writing, "Pre Ibogaine Flood Dose - quiet moment before everything changed. i was absolutely terrified, and I knew I would be again if I ever had to face something like this...my mantras were love yourself and lis gotta be the last time for this reason. letting go of control didn’t come easy, but I trusted there was something bigger than me guiding it."

He also acknowledged the supportive team and friends he encountered during his treatment. In the past, Presley had been open about his mental health challenges, including arrests for driving under the influence in 2019. In November of the previous year, he announced a retreat from social media to focus on his mental well-being.

Later that month, he candidly discussed his use of medications such as Buprenorphine, benzodiazepines, Xanax, and Valium for issues like night terrors and panic attacks. He expressed frustration with the lack of clear direction from medical professionals regarding his treatment, noting that he had seen numerous psychiatrists. "I'd like doctors to be like, 'Take this three times a day.' But every psychiatrist I've had – and I've had 15 – are like, 'Here's 20 medications and take this if you feel like this, take this as needed.'"

His sister, Kaia Gerber, spoke about the impact of Presley's struggles on the family in a recent interview with Vogue. "When something like that happens in a family, it kind of levels everyone," she said. Kaia also found her brother's openness refreshing, contrasting it with their parents' previous privacy. "My parents for most of our lives were very, very private and didn't share anything – and now we have this absolute teacher, my brother, who says, 'I'm gonna be very human for everyone.'"

Presley began his modeling career at age 15, appearing in campaigns for brands like Dolce & Gabbana and Calvin Klein. In May, he posted a heartfelt tribute to his father, expressing gratitude for his unwavering support and advice.
