A 22-year-old man accused of terrorizing residents in Philadelphia while wearing a Chucky mask has been apprehended in Las Vegas, concluding a two-week manhunt.
Zymire Hughes was arrested Tuesday night in Nevada on an out-of-state warrant for aggravated assault, according to the U.S. Marshals Service. Officials stated Hughes was found hiding in an apartment complex in Southeast Las Vegas.
"By hiding behind a Chucky-style Halloween mask, Hughes terrorized Philadelphia residents and believed he could evade law enforcement. He was wrong," U.S. Marshals Service official Robert Clark told reporters.
Hughes is currently being held at the Clark County Detention Center pending extradition to Pennsylvania. He had been sought by the Philadelphia Police Department for a series of incidents on August 12, 2026, that occurred over approximately 15 minutes in the City Hall neighborhood.
During one incident, Hughes, while masked, allegedly chased a 40-year-old female jogger and made threatening remarks, causing her to fall and sustain an injury. He reportedly asked the woman, "Are you ready to die?" while filming the encounter.
Authorities believe Hughes fled Philadelphia on August 19, traveling from Trenton, New Jersey, to Orlando, Florida, before taking another flight to Las Vegas. He had recently moved to Las Vegas, where he has ties, and was reportedly living with his girlfriend. Law enforcement had anticipated he might have fled to either Nevada or California.
