Christopher Nolan's latest film, "The Odyssey," is slated for a nationwide theatrical release on Friday, July 17, 2026. The movie, an adaptation of Homer's epic poem, features Matt Damon as Odysseus, Anne Hathaway as Penelope, and Tom Holland as Telemachus. The ensemble cast also includes Robert Pattinson, Lupita Nyong'o, Zendaya, Charlize Theron, and Himesh Patel.

Following its theatrical run, "The Odyssey" is expected to become available for home viewing through a staggered streaming and digital purchase strategy. As a Universal Pictures release, the film will first debut on NBCUniversal's streaming platform, Peacock. An approximate streaming release on Peacock is anticipated around November 2026, roughly four months after its theatrical debut, mirroring the release pattern of another Universal title, "Reminders of Him."

Before its streaming availability, audiences will have the option to purchase or rent "The Odyssey" on digital platforms, likely around August 2026. This release window is also an estimation, as Universal's digital release strategies can vary by title.

While "The Odyssey" will not be available on Netflix, it is expected to arrive on Amazon Prime Video approximately four months after its initial streaming window on Peacock concludes. This arrangement is part of a distribution deal between Universal and Amazon, which designates the first four months of the "Pay 1 window" to Peacock, followed by a period on Amazon Prime Video. Based on this, "The Odyssey" could be available to stream on Prime Video around April 2027.

Peacock offers two subscription tiers: Premium, which includes advertisements, at $10.99 per month, and Premium Plus, an ad-free option, at $16.99 per month. Annual plans are also available, offering a discount for a 12-month subscription. Peacock Premium Plus can also be accessed through Amazon Prime Video, which includes a seven-day free trial.

Nolan, fresh off his Oscar wins for "Oppenheimer," is known for prioritizing the theatrical experience for his films. Consequently, while predictions for home viewing availability have been made, the exact dates for digital and streaming releases have not yet been officially announced by Universal. For immediate viewing, catching "The Odyssey" in theaters remains the primary option.
