Actor Christopher Lambert, 69, collapsed during a public appearance at the Steel City Comic-Con in Pittsburgh on Saturday. The incident occurred while the French actor was signing autographs for fans, according to a witness cited by TMZ.
Following the collapse, Lambert was attended to by medical personnel and transported to a local hospital via ambulance. The Steel City Con organization released a statement confirming Lambert had to leave the event due to a personal issue and that his scheduled photo opportunities were canceled.
A representative for Lambert told TMZ that the actor is "perfectly ok" and currently resting at his hotel. The spokesperson attributed the collapse to the actor not getting enough sleep the previous night and having consumed little food during the day, which led to a drop in his blood sugar levels.
It remains unclear if Lambert will be able to attend the convention on Sunday. However, he is expected to be well enough for his scheduled appearance at FAN EXPO in Chicago next week.
This is not the first health-related incident for Lambert. Last year, he suffered a back injury after falling down a flight of stairs at his hotel, which led to the cancellation of an appearance at the Swedish festival SciFiWorld. At the time, his representatives stated that while he has immense respect for event organizers and fans, filming and promoting his movies remain an absolute priority.
Lambert is widely recognized for his role as Connor MacLeod in the 1986 film "Highlander."
