Christina Applegate Shares First Public Appearance Since Hospitalization

Christina Applegate has made her first public appearance since a months-long hospitalization, sharing a video on social media showcasing a fresh hair color. The update comes after the actress, who has been living with multiple sclerosis since 2021, was discharged from the hospital in recent weeks.

In the brief video clip, Applegate revealed her hair had been colored to its signature light blond shade and styled straight. She was seen wearing a black hoodie over a black tank top with jeans and accessorized with layered necklaces. "Fresh hair color, new weird spot on my cheek haha," she captioned the post on Monday, referring to a small spot on her skin. "Thank you @davestanwell for brightening up my cloudy day. Love you and love to you all out there."

Fans responded positively to the post, with many expressing admiration for her appearance. Applegate had been hospitalized starting in March, and an insider told TMZ in early August that she was home and recovering well.

While the specific reason for her hospitalization was not disclosed, her representative previously stated to Page Six, "She’s had a long history of complicated medical conditions that she has been refreshingly open about."

Applegate has been open about her health challenges. In April, she addressed her hospitalization on social media, thanking fans for their support and stating, "Health issues are a constant for me, but I’m a strong chick and I’m getting stronger and better every day." She indicated at the time that she was taking a moment to focus on her health but would share more in the future.

During her hospital stay, sources close to Applegate reported that former co-stars and colleagues had reached out to offer support. In June, her "Married... With Children" co-star David Faustino mentioned in an interview that Applegate maintained her sense of humor through difficult times and that he visited her regularly.

Applegate's health journey has included other significant challenges. In August 2025, she revealed on the "MeSsy" podcast that she had been hospitalized with a kidney infection that caused her extreme pain. Earlier in 2026, she told People magazine that she was often confined to bed due to MS symptoms but still prioritized taking her teenage daughter to school, describing it as her "favorite thing to do."
