Christina Applegate Reveals She Was Misdiagnosed With MS
The actress shared on her podcast that she was initially told she did not have multiple sclerosis, despite suffering from symptoms.

Christina Applegate has revealed she was misdiagnosed with multiple sclerosis, five years after initially receiving the diagnosis. The actress shared the news on her podcast, MeSsy, stating that her doctor informed her she did not have the condition.
“Congratulations, you don’t have MS,” Applegate recalled her doctor telling her, a statement that did not bring her happiness, as she noted others were pleased with the news. Despite the misdiagnosis, Applegate stated that her condition has not improved and has, in fact, worsened. "I haven’t gotten better. If anything, I’ve gotten worse."
Applegate publicly announced her multiple sclerosis diagnosis in August 2021. She has been candid about the challenges she has faced since then, including the physical and emotional toll of the disease. The actress has also spoken about her decision to step back from acting due to her health.
