The outing occurred as millions of Americans endured the powerful nor'easter. New York Governor Kathy Hochul described the storm as "dangerous" and posing a "significant risk." New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani advised residents to avoid unnecessary travel over the weekend, and New Jersey Governor Mikie Sherrill urged vigilance as the storm gained traction.
The storm had already begun bearing down on coastal areas of Long Island, New York City, and Westchester County by Saturday evening. A state of emergency had been declared in both New York and New Jersey. Reports included a 15-foot wave at the New York Harbor entrance and flooding in parts of Queens, with some residents resorting to kayaks in inundated streets.
As of Saturday evening, nearly 108,000 Americans were without power. The storm was also linked to a fatality in New York, where a man was killed by a falling tree. The NYPD referred to the incident as the first potentially weather-related death associated with the early-season nor'easter.
Nor'easters typically form during the seasonal transition from fall to winter. This particular storm developed as a significant weather system, impacting coastal regions with heavy rain, strong winds, and rough seas. Earlier in the month, Brinkley had returned to the runway for the first time in seven years, walking for Dennis Basso's Spring 2027 ready-to-wear show during New York Fashion Week.
