Christian Watson Recounts Hospital Visit During Packers' Victory
Wide receiver Christian Watson returned to the game after a second-quarter injury sent him to the hospital.
Green Bay Packers wide receiver Christian Watson described his unusual Thursday night experience, which included a temporary trip to the hospital during his team's 27-19 victory over the Carolina Panthers.
Watson, who had six catches for 100 yards in the first half, sustained an injury in the second quarter following a hit from two Panthers defenders. He was taken from Lambeau Field via ambulance. However, approximately one hour later, Watson was back on the field and contributed to the Packers' win.
"It was tough, honestly. I never wanted to go [to the hospital]," Watson told Prime Video post-game. "I was hoping that they would let me off. I said I was feeling better once I kind of caught my breath. But they said there [were] a couple [of] signs that made them have to take me over there."
He explained that medical staff were concerned because he was spitting blood. After undergoing tests at the hospital, he was cleared to return to the game, having no internal bleeding or other concerning indicators. "So they just wanted to make sure there was nothing crazy."
While in the hospital, Watson kept up with the game's progress by watching the play-by-play on a doctor's phone. He expressed excitement over touchdowns scored by teammates Michael Golden and Josh Jacobs. "I was I was I was hyped. I saw [Josh Jacobs’] touchdown. I was like, ‘Alright, we’re doing something.’"
After his return, Watson added two receptions for 13 yards to his stats. The win improved the Packers' record to 5-3.
