Christian Singer Natalie Grant Hospitalized After Fall
Grant urges fans to heed their bodies after a fall led to internal bleeding and emergency surgery.
Christian singer Natalie Grant recently experienced a severe health scare after a fall resulted in internal bleeding, leading to emergency surgery. The 54-year-old artist described the incident to Fox News Digital, explaining that after helping her daughter move into a college dorm, she tripped on a brick while walking to dinner with her husband.
"I thought, 'Oh, maybe I broke a rib' or 'Man, that's gonna leave a bruise' or 'I kind of knocked the wind out of me,'" Grant recalled. Despite initial soreness, she continued to dinner, only later realizing the severity of her injury when she discovered she was bleeding internally.
Upon arriving at the emergency room, medical staff were initially confused by her condition. It was only when she was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit that doctors determined the extent of the internal bleeding from her kidney. Grant's condition was critical, with a risk of bladder rupture.
"They were like, your bladder could rupture, because my kidney was bleeding, and I wasn't able to pass urine," she said. "But they all let me know like if you wouldn't have come in... they said, 'No you were really smart to come as fast as you could and get here as quickly as you can,' because if I didn't, my bladder would have actually ruptured, and I wouldn't have known it."
Grant underwent emergency surgery to address the bleeding. During her hospital stay, she focused on her children, noting the maternal instinct to prioritize others even in personal distress. She mentioned her daughter, who faints at the sight of blood, was with her, and she worried about how to inform her other two daughters.
Months after the incident, Grant has fully recovered. She also confirmed that she did, in fact, break a rib during the fall, which proved to be a significant source of pain. "Internally, everything is 100%. And I just, I thank God because that could have gone 100 different directions. But I'm very, very grateful for good medical care and for the faithfulness of God took care of me," she stated.
Reflecting on the experience, Grant is now urging her fans to pay attention to their bodies. "God created our body in such a way that it gives us signs" and it's crucial not to ignore them until it's too late. Grant also recently honored Dolly Parton at the Dove Awards, an experience she described as deeply emotional, particularly when exploring Parton's faith journey.
