Christian McCaffrey Sports Busted Lip After 49ers Victory

San Francisco 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey appeared at the post-game press conference with a noticeable cut lip following his team's 36-30 victory over the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday. McCaffrey stated that the injury occurred during the game when he was hit in the face while running a "burst route." He also reported leaving the game with a sore throat.

The win moved the 49ers to a 3-0 record and first place in the NFC West, but the game was marked by injuries to key players. In addition to McCaffrey's lip, wide receiver Mike Evans was carted off the field in the second quarter with a rib injury and did not return. Left tackle Trent Williams also left the game in the third quarter with a neck injury, described as a "stinger," and was carted to the locker room, though he was later seen on the sideline.

Despite the physical toll, McCaffrey had a strong performance. He carried the ball 15 times for 75 yards and scored a touchdown in the second quarter. In the passing game, he caught four passes for 60 yards.

Quarterback Brock Purdy led the 49ers offense, completing 15 of 27 passes for 297 yards and throwing four touchdowns. His final touchdown pass, a 20-yard throw to George Kittle with 1:36 remaining, secured the 49ers' lead and ultimately the win.
