Christian McCaffrey jokes about parenting advantage over Olivia Culpo
The 49ers running back playfully admitted to getting better sleep than his wife following the birth of their second child.
San Francisco 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey has humorously shared an advantage he holds over his wife, model Olivia Culpo, in the early days of parenting their newborn son. McCaffrey and Culpo welcomed their second child, a son named Roman, at the end of September.
The birth, which occurred on September 29, was strategically planned by Culpo to coincide with a period when McCaffrey would have time off from his football commitments. This timing allowed the running back to maximize his time with his new son, especially as it fell between two home games for the 49ers.
However, with McCaffrey returning to his professional duties, Culpo has been left to manage the recovery from her C-section and care for their two young children. This situation has led McCaffrey to tease his wife about his own rest.
When asked by reporters about his sleep following the arrival of Roman, McCaffrey stated, “Sleep’s great.” He added with a laugh, “My family is down in LA right now, while my wife is recovering. Coming back up soon. I mean, don’t tell her this: I’m sleeping fantastic.”
While McCaffrey's comment was made in jest, it highlights the different experiences new mothers and fathers can have in the immediate postpartum period. The news of their second child's arrival comes after the couple welcomed their first son, Leo, in August 2022.
