Christian Influencer Couple Arrested on Child Abuse Charges in Texas

Seth and Heather Day, a Christian influencer couple from Keene, Texas, were arrested on September 24, accused of inflicting severe abuse on a 14-year-old girl. The allegations surfaced when the teenager reported the abuse to a high school teacher, leading to an investigation by the Keene Police Department.

The victim was taken to the Johnson County Children's Advocacy Center and presented with visible injuries to her face and head. According to an arrest affidavit, the teenager reported that Seth Day allegedly struck her with a cellphone and, two days prior, sexually assaulted her. Heather Day was allegedly aware of the abuse and, in one instance, the couple reportedly took the teen to a hospital, where Heather Day allegedly claimed ignorance regarding the injuries. The affidavit also indicates that Heather Day pressured the girl to conceal her injuries at school by wearing a mask and attributing swelling to an autoimmune disease.

This is not the first time the couple has faced scrutiny from Child Protective Services. The affidavit notes that CPS investigated multiple instances of alleged abuse when the Days lived in Midland before relocating to Keene. Following the recent allegations, the couple's children were placed in the custody of CPS.

Heather Day, a prominent Christian influencer with over 71,000 Instagram followers, founded Cross Communication, a Christian speaking development firm. She has also contributed to various religious and news publications and recently promoted her book, "What If I'm Wrong?" Seth Day is an assistant professor of psychology at Southwestern Adventist University. The university has placed him on administrative leave and stated it is cooperating with law enforcement, confirming that the allegations do not involve university personnel or students.

The couple, who co-authored the book "I'll See You Tomorrow: Building Relational Resilience When You Want to Quit," has not publicly responded to the accusations. Seth Day faces charges of injury to a child and sexual assault of a child, while Heather Day is charged with injury to a child for allegedly knowing about and concealing the abuse. Both were booked into the Johnson County Jail and later released on $100,000 bond.
