Christian Horner Receives Substantial Payout Amid Texting Scandal
Red Bull Racing compensates its Formula One team principal with over £33 million for loss of office.
Red Bull Racing has paid Christian Horner, the husband of former Spice Girls singer Geri Halliwell, £33.5 million in compensation for loss of office. The payment is detailed in the latest accounts filed for Red Bull Racing for the year 2025. The filing comes amidst a texting scandal involving Horner and a female employee within the Formula One team.
Documents filed at Companies House reveal that Horner, 52, received the payment described as 'compensation for loss of office.' His total earnings for the period, including a salary of £4.4 million paid before his resignation, amount to £38 million, equating to approximately £729,000 per week.
Separately, the woman executive involved in the texting scandal reportedly parted ways with her employers prior to the Hungarian Grand Prix. Reports suggest her position was terminated due to a perceived lack of discretion.
Horner has consistently denied claims of controlling behavior towards the employee. Internal investigations by Red Bull had previously cleared him of any impropriety, despite the public release of alleged intimate text messages between the two individuals before the 2024 Bahrain Grand Prix. Geri Halliwell has publicly supported her husband throughout the period of controversy. The couple shares three children and divides their time between residences in Oxfordshire and London.
