Chrisleys Hit With $1.5M Tax Lien After Trump Pardon
Reality TV stars Todd and Julie Chrisley face a new federal tax lien less than two years after receiving a presidential pardon for tax evasion.
Todd and Julie Chrisley, stars of the reality television show "Chrisley Knows Best," have been subjected to a federal tax lien of over $1.5 million. The lien was filed in Davidson County, Tennessee, on August 19, according to records reviewed by Page Six.
This new financial encumbrance comes approximately 18 months after President Donald Trump issued pardons to the couple in May 2025. The pardons were granted in connection with their 2022 convictions for orchestrating a $36 million bank fraud and tax evasion scheme. Following those convictions, Todd and Julie Chrisley were sentenced to a combined 19 years in prison and began serving their sentences in January 2023, with Todd initially sentenced to 12 years (later reduced to 10) and Julie to seven years.
The federal tax lien is reportedly split into two assessments. One assessment totals $142,410.72 for the period ending December 31, 2021, as assessed on December 5, 2022. The second, larger assessment amounts to $1,429,041.89 for the period ending December 31, 2022, and was assessed on December 11, 2023.
Prosecutors stated that Todd, 57, and Julie, 53, used fraudulent financial records to withdraw over $36 million in loans, which they used for luxury purchases including vehicles, clothing, homes, and travel. Their daughter, Savannah Chrisley, actively campaigned for their early release, and President Trump reportedly called her directly to inform her of his decision to grant the pardon.
Following their release from prison due to the pardon, the Chrisleys appeared on the Fox series "The Masked Singer," performing "Jailhouse Rock." Todd Chrisley stated that the song choice was a "tongue-in-cheek" nod to their situation, aimed at their critics. Julie Chrisley described the experience as enjoyable, despite being outside her comfort zone.
Prior to their convictions and subsequent pardon, the couple were placed on supervised release after completing their sentences.
